The Anna University has signed partnered with Nemetschek Group India to establish an AEC Centre of Excellence. Under a Memorandum of Understanding with the IT company, the Chennai’s university aims to enhance industry readiness for its engineering and architecture students. The agreement exemplifies a shared commitment to bridging the skills gap in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry by integrating industry-relevant training into the academic curricula.
The initiative focuses on raising awareness about emerging job opportunities and career advancements in core engineering fields such as civil engineering and architecture, addressing concerns over the declining interest in traditional engineering disciplines amidst the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML).
Speaking on the occasion, Nirmalya Chatterjee, Managing Director, Nemetschek Group India, said, “This collaboration with Anna University marks a significant step towards bridging the industry-academia gap in India’s AEC sector. Our goal is to equip students with the necessary technological expertise and practical knowledge to meet the evolving demands of the industry. The Centre of Excellence will serve as a hub for skill development, ensuring that future engineers and architects are job-ready from day one.”
