10,000 Marathi women to be trained in AI: Maharashtra Budget 2025 points in education

The Maharashtra government has announced Maharashtra Budget 2025-26 to provide training to 10,000 women in skill and artificial intelligence. The state’s Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, Ajit Pawar, presented the state budget for 2025-26, where it was mentioned. In collaboration with Microsoft, this training will be provided to the state’s women with the help of Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skill University.

A total of ₹807 crore has been allocated for Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Department for the year 2025-26, budget mentioned. ₹3,098 crores for the Higher and Technical Education Department, ₹2,574 crores for the Medical Education and Medical Drugs Department, ₹31,907 crores for the Women and Child Development Department, and ₹3,496 crores has been proposed for the School Education and Sports Department for the year 2025-26.

In the education sector, one small announcement by Pawar drew attention about 100% reimbursement of educational and examination fees. To encourage professional education for girls, this benefit is aimed to be given to female students who are admitted through the centralised admission process in recognised higher and professional courses, with their ‘family’s’ annual income must be less than ₹8 lakhs.

Being the crucial state of sugarcane, state government has also focused on providing education to the children of sugarcane workers. Programmes will be implemented as Ashram Schools for the children of sugarcane workers, Vidyaniketan, Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule Scholarship Scheme, Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Hostel Scheme and Tanda Vastimukta Vasahat Yojana for the overall development for the OBCs (Other Backward Classes), Nomadic Tribes, Denotified Tribes, and SBCs (Special Backward Classes).

Further, the Maharashtra Budget 2025 has also mentioned about a high-quality research centre and a translation academy for the study and research of Classical Marathi language will be established at the Marathi Language University at Riddhapur. With a proposition of awards for the outstanding achievement in research in Marathi language, this initiative aims to promote and preserve the rich heritage of the Marathi language by facilitating advanced research and translation studies.
