IITE Gujarat

The Indian Institute of Teacher Education (IITE), Gujarat, has announced a major academic restructuring by establishing seven interdisciplinary schools, aligning its curriculum with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The move marks the institute’s most significant transformation since its inception in 2010 and is aimed at promoting multidisciplinary learning, innovation, and research.

The newly created schools will cover diverse areas including Science and Mathematics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Commerce and Management, Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Physical Education and Yoga, Performing and Fine Arts, and Special Education. The new framework will enable students to pursue flexible learning pathways by combining subjects across disciplines, fostering broader skill development and critical thinking.

According to IITE Director Mehul Dave, the institute is also planning specialized programmes to prepare educators for AI-enabled classrooms and emerging technologies. The revamped structure expands IITE’s focus beyond conventional teacher education to include fields such as educational leadership, digital learning, theatre, and sports coaching.
