The Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education has invited nominations for the National Teacher Awards 2026 for teachers and faculty members from higher educational institutions and polytechnic institutes across India. The initiative aims to recognize excellence in teaching, innovation, institutional service, and academic leadership.

The awards seek to honour educators who have made significant contributions to student development, research, community engagement, and the overall advancement of higher education. Eligible faculty members from universities, colleges, and polytechnic institutions can be nominated through the prescribed application process.

The Ministry stated that the awards are intended to celebrate outstanding teaching practices and encourage educators to adopt innovative, learner-centric approaches aligned with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
