The European Union has awarded 75 Indian students the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree (EMJMD) scholarships for the 2026–2028 academic cycle, reinforcing India’s position among the top three recipient countries globally and the leading beneficiary of the programme since 2004.

The fully funded two-year scholarships will enable students to pursue master’s programmes at leading universities across 15 European countries, including France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, Finland, Ireland, and the Netherlands. The programme covers tuition fees, travel expenses, and living costs.

Students will study high-demand subjects such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, renewable energy, smart urban development, vaccinology, nanosystems, pharmaceutical sciences, as well as social sciences and cultural studies.

The EU also launched the EU-India Student Ambassadors Network, selecting 40 ambassadors from 20 Indian universities across 14 states and Union Territories. The initiative aims to promote European higher education opportunities and strengthen academic and people-to-people ties between India and Europe.

With nearly 100,000 Indian students currently pursuing higher education in Europe, the continent continues to emerge as a preferred destination for Indian learners seeking global exposure and research opportunities.
