The newly-appointed Human Resources and Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has directed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and other government educational bodies to improve the quality and efficiency by filling the vacancies in respective departments.
Stressing on the fact that it’s Government’s responsibility to provide quality education to all the students in the country, Pokhriyal ordered the officials from Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to focus on filling the vacant positions.
Furthermore, he stated that vocational training and skill education must be promoted in all the institutions.
According to an official communiqué from the department, “The Minister appreciated the efforts of NIOS for training the 15 lakh untrained teachers. He also reviewed the basic literacy programme of National Institute of Open Schooling”.
Besides, ahead of the International Yoga Day, which is to be celebrated on 21 June, the HRD minister also reviewed the preparations for it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also sharing a series of videos of ‘Yogasanas’ from his official twitter account, setting the tone for the Yoga Day 2019.
Notably, Pokhriyal took the oath on May 30, 2019 along with other Union Ministers after National Democratic Alliance (NDA) registered a landslide victory in the recently held Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Pokhriyal has succeeded Prakash Javadekar in the ministry, who was the HRD minister in first term of Narendra Modi led Government.
