Andhra Pradesh govt to install 45,000 smart TVs in public schools

In order to bridge the gap between private and public schools, the Andhra Pradesh state government will be installing 45,000 smart televisions in government schools. With the television installed, the state govt will ensure digital learning for students of govt schools.

The new initiative will be implemented in phases with the first phase of installation will contain 10,000 smart TVs costing a total of Rs 50 cr. The state Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials that the students should not be deprived of digital education in this pandemic.

The CM also stated that officials were also directed that students should not be left out to enjoy digital education and public schools must be equipped with centralized integrated system smart TVs.

AP Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh said “the CM has the vision to digitize 45,000 government schools by the next academic year. The officials are also working round the clock to meet the deadline for the Chief Minister’s Nadu-Nedu project for upgrading school infrastructure and reducing the student dropout rate.”

The state government also aims to make the parents think of the government schools for good education rather than sending their children to private schools at a high cost.

Education ministry releases alternative academic calendar secondary students

To ensure online education, the Ministry of Education, released the alternative academic calendar for the secondary level students for the next eight weeks.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said that the calendar contains guidelines to impart education while the students are at home. The Ministry of Health and Family Affairs, on September 8, had released guidelines for the partial reopening of schools from September 21 on a voluntary basis for Classes 9 to 12.

However, as in previous calendars, the ministry suggests the use of technology and social media tools to impart education to students during the lockdown.

Taking the twitter, the minister, said: “This Calendar contains detailed guidelines for teachers on the use of technology and social media tools to impart education while the students are at home.”

The ministry had earlier released a 12-week alternative academic calendar for primary and upper primary students. Schools and other education institutions were shut down on March 16 following the spike in COVID-19 cases across the country.

Schools are colleges are closed across the country from mid-March due to corona pandemic.

UPSC declares NDA II results; check details

In a major development, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the NDA result 2019 at its official website. The result has been released on PDF having roll numbers of all the qualified candidates. Candidates can check the result of NDA 2 2019 from the UPSC official website- upsc.gov.in. As per the UPSC NDA 2 result 2019 notification, 662 candidates have qualified the examination.

NDA 2 2019 exam was conducted on November 17 in offline mode across the country. Candidates who have qualified the exam will undergo training at various academies to get commissioned in Indian Armed Forces. The written exam result of NDA 02/2019 was released on December 12, 2019.

NDA 1 and NDA 2 2020 was conducted on September 6 in offline mode. Earlier this year NDA 2020 was postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Ministry of Education: Rs 818 cr allocated for online education

Ministry of Education has informed to the Parliament on Day 1 of Monsoon Session that it allocated a total of Rs 818 cr for promotion of online learning and education and Rs 267 cr for online teacher training.

It further added that Rs 304 cr has been allocated for training members of school management committees (SMC) on COVID-19 awareness. On similar lines, the Education Ministry has also allocated Rs 153 cr has been allocated for media and community mobilization while Rs 51 cr has been allocated for safety and security at school level. In addition to this, a sum of Rs 417 cr has been allocated for orientation of teachers on safety and security.

Education Ministry also clarified that in addition to these funds, a total of Rs 3,771 crore has been allocated under composite school grant to ensure safe school operations, sanitization and ensuring basic wash facilities, safe drinking water, availability of essentials like alcohol rub/sanitizer disinfectant, cleaning material, thermal screening facilities, etc.

“There is no question of revising the reservation policy,” Nishank said. The NEP approved by the Union Cabinet in July replaces the 34-year-old National Policy on Education framed in 1986 and is aimed at paving the way for transformational reforms in schools and higher education systems to make India a global knowledge superpower.

Education Ministry: 23,137 KRPs and 16,99,931 school heads, teachers trained under NISTHA

According to Ministry of Education, a total of 23,137 Key Resource Persons (KRPs) and State Resource Persons (SRPs) and 16,99,931 School Heads and Teachers have been trained under NISTHA in 2019-20.

The department launched a national mission to improve learning outcomes at the Elementary level through an Integrated Teacher Training Programme called NISHTHA – National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement on 21st August, 2019. The aim of this integrated teacher training programme was to build the capacities of around 42 lakh teachers and Heads of Schools, faculty members of SCERTs and DIETs and Block Resource Coordinators and Cluster Resource Coordinators.

In 2020-21, it has been decided to launch NISHTHA – Phase II at the secondary level. Due to COVID – 19situations, NISHTHA Online has been created by customizing Modules for Online delivery.

CBSE also keeps organizing Prospective Resource Persons training programmes for the key resource persons. These Key Resource Persons, in turn, train other teachers of the schools affiliated to CBSE in various subjects through online as well as in-person training programmes organized by CBSE. Till date CBSE has empanelled 1500 such key resource persons with it.

202 schools including five Kendriya Vidyalayas have one or more such students who scored aggregate 99 or above percentage in class X in the year 2020.

NTA postpones UGC exams, to be held from September 24

After much deliberation, the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday postponed the UGC-NET June/ September exam 2020. The UGC-NET exam will be held on September 24, 2020. Earlier, the exam was scheduled to be conducted between September 16 and 25.

Full schedule will be released subsequently.

The official notice reads, “In view of ICAR Examination AIEEA-UG/PG and AICE-JRF/SRF (Ph.D.) 2020-21 being conducted on the above mentioned dates, the National Testing Agency has rescheduled the dates of UGC-NET Examination, 2020. This is due to some common candidates in both exams and the requests received thereof. The UGC- NET 2020 Examination will now be held from 24th September onwards. The exact schedule of Subject-wise and Shift-wise details will be uploaded subsequently.”

The NTA UGC-NET exam was originally scheduled to be held from June 15 to 20, but had to be postponed to September in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.

NTA conducts the UGC-NET exam twice a year, for ‘Assistant Professor’ and for ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor. The test consists of two papers. Both the papers will be conducted in single three hour duration. The exam will be held in computer-based test mode.

The admit card of the exam is not released yet.

Country celebrates Hindi Diwas; Pokhriyal extends greetings

The entire nation is celebrating Hindi Diwas 2020, September 14. Every year Hindi Diwas is celebrated with speeches, awards, and many other events to celebrate the Hindi language. Schools and other educational institutions also celebrate the day with various events and programmes.

Today on the 50th birthday of Beohar Rajendra Simha, Hindi was adopted as one of the official languages of India.

On this occasion, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal extended his greetings on the day of “Hindi Diwas” to the nation. Taking the twitter, he said language is very important for any country’s cultural, political and social development. Language plays a vital role in the unity of a country.

Hindi was adopted as one of the two official languages of the Republic of India by the Constituent Assembly of India. Beohar Rajendra Simha along with Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Kaka Kalelkar, Maithili Sharan Gupt, and Seth Govind Das took an effort to place the Hindi language as one of the official languages of the country.

Pokhriyal: NEET 2020 saw 90 pc attendance of students

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishnak’ confirmed that the NEET 2020 medical entrance test saw 85 to 90 pc attendance from the aspirants who were registered for the exam despite the challenging circumstances of COVID-19. NEET 2020 medical entrance exam was held successfully on 13th September 2020.

Education Minister took to twitter after the conclusion of the exam and confirmed that despite COVID-19 pandemic, nearly 90% of medical aspirants took the entrance test. The data shared by Education Minister has also been vetted and corroborated by NTA, which was entrusted the task of holding the medical entrance exam amid the challenging circumstances of COVID-19 pandemic.

In fact, even after Supreme Court’s decision allowing the exam, 6 ministers from opposition ruled states approached the apex court and filed the review petition, which was again turned by down.

However, despite these differences, the state governments and local administrations rose to the occasion to ensure that the NEET 2020 exam was held successfully with complete adherence to COVID-19 precautions to ensure safety of students and parents. Following the completion of the exam, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal also thanked all state Chief Ministers for extending their support in holding of the examination.

CBSE releases compartment admit card 2020 for Class 10 and 12

Providing relief to lakhs of students, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released CBSE admit card 2020 for Class 10 and 12th compartment exams. Private students can download CBSE compartment admit card 2020 Class 12 and 10 from cbse.nic.in. They need to enter their application number or previous roll number and year or candidate’s and parents’ name to download CBSE 10th, 12th compartment admit card 2020.

Admit card for regular students can be downloaded through school login. Students can collect their CBSE compartment admit card 2020 from the respective school authority.

It is mandatory for each student to carry CBSE compartment admit card 2020 to the exam hall. CBSE board will hold compartment exams from September 22 to 29, 2020.

No students will be allowed to enter the exam hall without admit card. This year, CBSE will increase the number of exam centres for student safety in this COVID-19 pandemic situation.

A total of 1,50,198 can download CBSE compartment admit card 2020 Class 10 who applied for compartment exams. Whereas, 87,651 will appear for 12th compartment exams. They should download CBSE compartment admit card 2020 class 12 by visiting the CBSE website or collect the same from respective school authority.

UGC NET exams begins on Sept 16, admit card yet to be released

UGC NET 2020 exams are going to be held on September 16, but the National Testing Agency (NTA) has yet to release the admit cards for the exam. In its official notification, the NTA has said that the hall tickets will be released 15 days ahead of the date of exam.

There is no clarification from the officials, when admit card will be released for students.

The NTA had also extended the application correction deadline and reopened the window for candidates who wanted to make corrections.

With no admit cards, student anxiety has increased and many have expressed their dilemma on social media. They have been writing to the Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and UGC, tweeting and posting on social media for the same. They are also wondering if the exams will happen at all.

Even students are also demanding for postpone of exams due to pandemic.

UGC NET 2020 Exams will be conducted by NTA in 81 subjects at different Exam Centers across India to determine the eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or Assistant Professor only in various Indian Universities/ Colleges/ Institutions recognised by UGC.
