Soon the Company Secretary (CS) course will be offered online from 2007 in India.

Currently, the course is offered through classroom teaching or through post. Once the course is web-based, students would be able to access the course on their desktops according to their own convenience.  The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has started providing the study material on CD. The Institute is elaborating e-Learning model of the course. According to N K Jain, secretary and chief executive officer of ICSI, students would be able to attend virtual classes at computer centres and interact with the faculty of the virtual classroom. In the first phase of the programme, the institute will offer the foundation course. The institute will offer final year programme in its third phase.

ICSI has also signed an agreement with NIIT to offer a course named, 'Understanding Information Technology in Corporate Environment', which will provide high-end computer skills. Recently, ICSI has launched its post-membership qualification (PMQ) course in corporate governance for members of the institute.
