Educomp will reach out to more schools

Educomp, India's largest e-education service provider is set to take Information Communication Technology (ICT) to 8,000 schools in the country by March against the 7,000 declared earlier.

Educomp also hopes to take the number of Smartclass-enabled schools to 750 from the present 503 by March. It also added 107 schools during the quarter under Smartclass, and at Rs 26 crore, the on-year revenue growth for the division was 445 per cent. A net profit of Rs. 14 crore in its July-September quarter results at 170 percent increase. Under ICT solutions, which accounts for a quarter of its revenues, Educomp manages computer labs in government schools. Smartclass, the digital classroom education content, is Educomp's flagship division, accounting for 58 percent of its revenues. Professional development (teacher training) and e-learning are its other divisions. In order to increase the penetration of Smartclass products, Educomp has planned over 110 road shows this fiscal year and hopes to meet 4,000 schools. Educomp is taking its Smartclass content global and hopes to earn 10 per cent of the divisions' revenues from overseas licence.
