Mr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, President of India, had given the keynote address of the summit organised by the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2). The President's address was beamed live from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to a larger audience in San Diego using 50 Mbps bandwidth through Reliance's Virtual Private Network (VPN) services. According to the company while the State-owned MTNL provided dark fibre connectivity into the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Reliance Communications provided fully redundant connectivity between New Delhi and Los Angeles, California.
