DIQA Hosts seminar on

The Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance in collaboration with the European Union organized an Information Seminar on “The European Union's 7th Research Framework Programme” on 15th June 2011 at the Convention Hall, The Business School, University of Jammu. Prof. R.D Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Mr. Christian Wilk, European Union delegate was the resource person for the programme. The programme was aimed at raising awareness among the University researchers about the opportunities that the EU and its Member States can offer for research cooperation with India, including mobility schemes for students and researchers.

Prof. Kuldeep K. Sharma, Director, Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance welcomed the august gathering and explained the objective of the programme. Christian Wilk, in his presentation explained in detail and highlighted frontline areas where research opportunities existed for the researchers. He apprised the audience about the imitative of the European Union called the “India Pilot Imitative”, which aims at building a stronger and more sustainable cooperation with India and how this programme could promote cross border pooling of resources for diffusion of knowledge, pool resources to support & undertake major projects and promote competition in research thereby raising levels of excellence.

He further elaborated on the procedure, criteria and Process of Call for proposal under FP7 (Framework Programme 7). Prof. R.D Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu & the Chief Guest of the function, appreciated the efforts of the European Union in creating awareness about the programme and emphasized the importance of building international cooperation in the areas of research and innovation.

Around 150 research scholars from various departments of the University attended the programme. Other participants included were Dr. P.S Pathania, Registrar, Prof. G.M Bhat, Controller of Examination, Prof. Rajive Gupta, Director, Colleges Development Council, Prof. N.K Tripathi, Dean Student Welfare, Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Deans, Head of the Departments & Faculty Members of the University.
