More RTE seats in Private Schools in Karnataka

RTEIn Karnataka, the number of Right to Education (RTE) seats will go up in the academic year 2016-17 as there are 600 new schools being added to the matrix, across the state.

Last year, 49,429 seats for LKG and 50,638 seats for Class I were reserved under RTE quota by private schools in Karnataka. Block education officers (BEOs) have started consolidating the number of seats that will be available in new schools under RTE quota, after leaving out minority institutions, as minority schools do not offer seats under RTE quota.

The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) will soon publish the details of the RTE seats available in each school on its website. Briefing on the development, K Anand, director (primary education) of DPI, said, “BEOs are collecting data from all the schools, including the old ones. Within a week, the department will notify the RTE admission process dates.”
