The Centre has intensified preparations for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination by reviewing security arrangements and implementing stricter measures to ensure a fair, transparent, and tamper-proof examination process.
A high-level meeting chaired by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan brought together officials from multiple ministries, security agencies, and the National Testing Agency (NTA) to assess preparedness ahead of the June 21 re-exam. Authorities were directed to maintain zero tolerance for lapses and strictly enforce security protocols across all examination centres.
The review focused on secure transportation of question papers, enhanced surveillance, stricter monitoring at exam centres, and improved coordination between central and state agencies. Railway authorities have also been asked to facilitate smooth travel arrangements for candidates if required.
To further strengthen security, question papers will be airlifted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to multiple locations across the country before being securely dispatched to examination centres. The move comes after the cancellation of the original NEET-UG 2026 exam due to alleged paper leaks.

The NTA has also launched initiatives to combat misinformation, including a dedicated portal for reporting fake paper leak claims, impersonation attempts, and other suspicious activities. Candidates have been advised to rely only on official communication channels.
Additionally, the agency has introduced nationwide training programmes for examination staff and dismissed viral claims about fresh leaks as false. The government has warned that anyone attempting to disrupt or manipulate the examination process will face strict legal action.
The renewed focus on security reflects the government’s efforts to restore public confidence in one of India’s most competitive entrance examinations, which is crucial for admissions to undergraduate medical programmes across the country.
