Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised children’s contribution to raising awareness of handwashing during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that if they were part of it, a program would be successful.
When interacting with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar winners via video conference, Prime Minister Modi congratulated the winners, saying that they should never stop working and be humble all the time. He also asked them to work for the country and urged them to think about what they could do as the nation approaches its 75th anniversary.
The prime minister also asked them to read biographies and said they would continue to inspire them. Speaking to a boy who made farm equipment, Modi said that modern agriculture is the necessity of the land.
Children have also played an important role in raising awareness of sanitation through the Swachh Bharat program, he said. The Government of India has awarded the Bal Shakti Puraskar under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to children of outstanding ability and outstanding achievement in innovation, sports, arts and culture, social service, educational field and courage.
For PMRBP-2021, Bal Shakti Puraskar selected a total of 32 applicants from across the country in different categories.
