The announcement of the postponement of NEET PG 2021 was made tonight by the Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, made official. So far, only the decision to postpone the exam has been made and the new NEET PG 2021 exam date will be announced later. The Health Minister added that the decision to postpone the NEET 2021 entrance exam after graduation was made with the well-being of our young medical students in mind.
Harsh Vardhan took to Twitter and said: “In light of the increase in # COVID19 cases, the Government of India has decided to postpone the # NEETPG2021 review, which is scheduled for April 18.” He added that the decision was made within the well-being of our young medical students. In a second tweet, he said that the health and safety of our young doctors is of the utmost importance and shared a copy of the formal order confirming the postponement of the NEET PG 2021 exam.
Following the formal announcement by the Union Health Minister on the postponement of the NEET PG 2021 exam, several aspiring doctors welcomed this decision, which addresses their concerns. Previously, following the rapid rise in COVID-19 cases and the worsening situation across the country, several NEET PG 2021 candidates contacted the NBE – National Examination Board and Minister of Health, asking them to postpone the examination.
Media reports also noted that several state governments hired MBBS students for COVID-19 service after the second wave of the pandemic. Those students who actively participated in the COVID-19 service would not be able to take the exam if it was not rescheduled. As a result, the decision was well received by aspiring doctors and other stakeholders.
