Due to the massive surge in Covid19, the Class 12 Board Exam 2021 has already been postponed by the Central Board of Secondary Education and the Class 10 Board Exam was cancelled to prevent the spread of the deadly disease.

As per reports, there is a possibility that the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 might get conducted after the month of July.

Though there are no confirmations regarding the same from CBSE, the government and the members of the education department are scheduled to hold a meeting on June 1, 2021, to take the final decision regarding CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021.

The Uttar Pradesh Class X and XII exams, which were postponed till May 20 by the UP government, might be rescheduled even further due to the rising cases of Covid-19 in the state in the past few weeks. The state government is keeping in mind the pandemic situation prevailing in Uttar Pradesh.

As per data, 17 out of the 19 officers in charge of handling the state board examinations have been infected with coronavirus, which is why the UP Board is likely to decide on the postponement of the exam dates. It is being speculated that the tests might get conducted in June 2021.

There have been a number of requests from the students to postpone the Class 10 and 12 Board Exams 2021 in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) official website at upmsp.edu.in, will be publishing the details on the basis of further changes.

The requests for postponing of UPMSP Class 10 and 12 Board Exam 2021 have grown louder after Uttar Pradesh Education Minister Dinesh Sharma tested positive with COVID-19. Incidentally, the UPMSP Class 10 and 12 Board Exam 2021 was supposed to commence from May 8, 2021.

More than 56 lakh candidates will be appearing in the UP board class 10 and 12 exams. This year, a total number of 56,03,813 students have registered for the UP board class 10 and12 exams.

CBSE syllabus to be implemented in all Government Schools

In view of raising the standards of education and to help students keep pace with the changing education scenario at the global level, the government has decided to implement the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus in government schools.

Of the total 61,208 schools in the State, 44,639 (73 %) are Government schools with a strength of 43 lakh students. After the YSR Congress Party formed the government in 2019, the State-run schools recorded an additional 6,13,000 enrolments.

There are approximately 21,271 schools in the country and 220 schools in 28 foreign countries affiliated to it. All Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, private schools, and most of the schools approved by central government of India are affiliated to it.

The government schools in the State will be affiliated to the CBSE in a phased manner. The idea is to enable the 10th class students write the CBSE exams in English medium by the academic year 2024-25.

CBSE’s ‘Innovation Ambassador – Online Teaching Programme’ to be launched on May 13

In the idea of mentoring capacity of teachers for nurturing innovative ideas from students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in collaboration with the Education Ministry’s Innovation Cell and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), has announced the ‘Innovation Ambassador – Online Teaching Programme’.

The CBSE Board aims to train 50,000 teachers from all affiliated schools as ‘Innovation Ambassadors’.

The teachers will be trained in four modules, such as design thinking and innovation, idea generation and ideal hand-holding, intellectual property rights, product/prototype development. The first batch will start on May 17. The programme will be launched formally on May 13.

The trained teachers, or ‘Innovation Ambassadors’, will help in creating the culture of innovation in their schools, mentor other teachers, students, provide support to other schools as resource persons, act as evaluators for national-level idea competitions, and act as mentors for the national level programme on innovation and related activities, the board said. Schools can register online on or before May 10, 2021.

The summer vacations in Odisha schools are going to begin from May 5, 2021 to May 31, 2021.

The Higher Education Department released an order recently, which said that no online classes or exams will be conducted during this period of summer vacation.

The official order says, “All educational institutions coming under the administrative control of the Department shall have summer vacation from May 5 to May 31.”

“Standard vacation arrangements should be put in place for the functioning of the institutions during the vacation, including Covid-19 related lockdown or shutdown period falling within the summer vacation,” it added.

However, pre-scheduled viva-voce or interview of PhD and other research scholars will be conducted on the scheduled dates, the order said.

The 14-day statewide lockdown will be started today, May 5, 2021.

Two days after CBSE announced guidelines for the revised assessment scheme for class 10 students, Delhi govt schools urge CBSE to defer Class 10 Board results 2021.

The principals have asked to defer implementation of the May 1 notification till the COVID-19 pandemic situation is controlled. Schools have been directed to submit marks to the CBSE by June 5 while the results are slated to be out on June 20.

Expressing hesitancy over the timeline, the principals of Delhi government schools have written to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and said that it would be difficult to submit the result sheets to the board by June 5.

The principals said it is “impossible” to select five teachers and two external examiners by May 5 while ensuring there is no overlap of teachers in the committees of two nearby schools.

“All heads of schools are of the opinion that nothing should be started in May. Many schools have been converted into vaccination centres and Covid care centres in Delhi. There is a 100% risk of getting infected if principals and teachers are asked to step outside of homes. It is not possible to form a committee by May 5,” Sukhbir Singh Yadav, president of Vice- and Principals’ Association of Delhi, said.

Yadav has reportedly urged in his letter to the CBSE chairperson to defer implementation of the May 1 notification till the COVID-19 pandemic situation is controlled.

Schools have been directed to submit marks to the CBSE by June 5 while the results are slated to be out on June 20.

On May 1, CBSE had announced a policy for the tabulation of marks for cancelled Class 10 board exams based on the internal assessment conducted by schools.

In a statement, the CBSE had informed the marks of Class 10 students will be tabulated this year on basis of the internal assessment done by schools. The board also said that the CBSE Class 10 exam results 2021 will be announced tentatively by the third week of June.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has decided to defer the Combined Medical Services Examination, 2021. The commission had to release the notification of the exam on May 5, however it announced the deferment. Candidates aspiring to apply for the UPSC CMS exam are advised to visit the official website, upsc.gov.in for the latest updates.

“The Combined Medical Services Examination, 2021 scheduled to be notified on May 5, 2021, stands deferred till further notice,” read the official notification by the UPSC.

Fresh dates for the exam will be decided soon. Earlier, the UPSC had postponed recruitment process for 363 vacancies in posts for principal.

The Combined Medical Services exam is conducted by the UPSC for MBBS students to fill vacancies in the central health service, assistant divisional medical officer in the Railways, assistant medical officer in Indian Ordnance Factories Health Service, general duty medical officer in New Delhi Municipal Council, general duty medical officer grade-II in East Delhi Municipal Corporation, and North Delhi Municipal Corporation and South Delhi Municipal Corporation.

The JEE Main — 2021 May session was scheduled on 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 May 2021. “However, keeping the present situation in mind, the JEE Main 2021 May session is also being postponed,” National Testing Agency (NTA) said.

Earlier, JEE- Main April session had been postponed due to the upsurge in Covid-19 cases across the country. The JEE Main – 2021 April Session which was scheduled on April 27, 28, and 30, has already been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The rescheduling of the April and May sessions will be done subsequently. The registration for the May Session will also be announced at a later stage, NTA said.

The first two sessions have already been completed in February and March.

Delhi University suspends online classes till May 16

Delhi University suspends online classes

Delhi University (DU) said it was suspending online classes in all colleges and departments till May 16 due to rising cases of COVID-19 in the capital. The decision has come after demands for suspension of classes have been raised by hundreds of first year students from various colleges.Earlier students of various colleges including St Stephen’s College, Hansraj College, Gargi College among others had written to the Principal demanding that classes be temporarily suspended and the academic calendar be reworked keeping in mind the current crisis.

In their petition, students had mentioned that attending classes was becoming an issue since many were down with COVID-19 themselves or had family members affected by the virus.

Registrar Vikas Gupta said, “In view of sudden surge in COVID-19 cases, the online teaching shall remain suspended till May 16, 2021 in the Departments and Colleges of the University. This is issued with the approval of the Competent Authority.”
