The Bihar government is preparing to launch a dedicated artificial intelligence policy as part of its broader strategy to transform the state into a major AI and emerging technology hub in India. The proposed policy will focus on strengthening digital infrastructure, promoting innovation, creating jobs, and accelerating AI adoption across sectors.
The move aligns with Bihar’s growing push toward AI-led development, following several recent initiatives involving research, skilling, and infrastructure investment. Earlier this year, the state signed key agreements at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, including plans for a major AI Centre of Excellence and a ₹250-crore research park at IIT Patna.
The proposed AI policy is expected to support collaboration between government, academia, startups, and industry partners while expanding AI skilling programmes for students and professionals. Bihar is also looking to position itself as an innovation destination for eastern India by encouraging AI research, entrepreneurship, and public-sector AI deployment.
