The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to overhaul its payment gateway infrastructure after students reported widespread technical and payment-related issues during the post-result and re-evaluation process.
Following complaints related to payment failures, login issues, server crashes, and incorrect fee deductions, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held discussions with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to address the situation.
As part of the corrective measures, four public sector banks, State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and Indian Bank will support CBSE in strengthening its payment gateway system and integrating it more effectively with the board’s post-examination services portal.
The upgraded system is expected to improve transaction reliability, automate refunds for excess payments, reduce payment failures, and ensure smoother digital access for services such as re-evaluation and verification of marks.

Additionally, expert teams from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur have been brought in to review portal stability, server performance, login authentication systems, and the overall robustness of CBSE’s IT infrastructure.
The move comes amid growing criticism over technical disruptions during the Class 12 re-evaluation process, prompting CBSE to extend deadlines and initiate refunds for students affected by incorrect fee deductions.
