
Telangana Governor and Chancellor of State Universities, Shiv Pratap Shukla, has instructed the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) to roll out its newly developed academic programmes across all state universities beginning in the 2026-27 academic session.
During a review meeting with TGCHE Chairman V. Balakista Reddy, the Governor discussed the council’s strategic plans to modernize higher education and align it with emerging industry demands. He underscored the need for stronger collaboration between academia and industry to enhance students’ employability and prepare them for evolving workforce requirements.
The council presented its roadmap for introducing specialised programmes in high-growth sectors, including aerospace, defence studies, maritime studies, financial technology (FinTech), climate governance, life sciences, and food technology. These courses are aimed at equipping students with future-ready skills and knowledge relevant to rapidly advancing industries.

According to TGCHE Chairman V. Balakista Reddy, the proposed academic framework has been designed in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, international educational standards, national development priorities, and industry expectations. The initiative seeks to create a more dynamic and responsive higher education ecosystem capable of meeting the demands of emerging economic sectors.
