Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President B K Hariprasad has expressed regret over reports that some students missed the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination in Bengaluru due to traffic disruptions. His remarks came amid a political row after the Congress party held a large convention at Palace Grounds on the same day as the exam.
Hariprasad said he deeply regretted any inconvenience caused to students and their families. However, he questioned the criticism directed at the Congress, noting that similar issues were reported in other cities where no party events were held. He also reiterated his support for Karnataka’s Common Entrance Test (CET) model over NEET.

The BJP alleged that the Congress event led to severe traffic congestion, causing some candidates to arrive late at examination centres. Karnataka ministers rejected the allegations, stating that traffic advisories and helplines had been issued in advance and that only a few students were reportedly affected.
The incident has reignited the debate around NEET’s implementation, student welfare, and coordination between large public events and major national examinations.
