Over 100 colleges and universities to go online with upGrad

One of India’s largest ed-tech firms, upGrad has announced over 100 colleges and universities so far are using upGrad’s platform to replicate their offline classes, online. Many reputed institutes include Jamia Hamdard University, LPU, who are amongst the MHRD’s NIRF Top 100 universities are associated with the ed-tech firm.

Ronnie Screwvala, Co-founder & Executive Chairman, upGrad said “Migrating to an online ecosystem is not about placing a webcam in front of the teacher. Quality of education will plummet if sessions, participations & evaluations are not supervised with equal precision like in an offline setup. It’s a digital campus we have built for universities and strengthened it for over half a decade. Around 1,00,000 learners are logged in to the platform as we speak, with over 8500 hours of live sessions conducted in the past 3 months”.

The upGrad Live is utilized by number of universities from every part of the country. CISCE to reduce syllabus by 25 pc

In the wake of Corona pandemic, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has decided that it will reduce the syllabus of ICSE 10th and ISC 12th by 25% in the year 2020-21. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a substantial delay in the start of the academic year 2020-21 across the country.

In order to make up for the loss during the current session 2020-2021, the Council, said in the statement, that based on working with subject experts, it will reduce the syllabus of all major subjects of ICSE 10th and ISC 12th levels.

The statement also included that the reduction in syllabus of ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12 has been done keeping in line with the linear progression across classes all the while ensuring that the core concepts related to a particular subject are retained.

Earlier, CISCE also disclosed the alternative assessment scheme for the pending exams of ICSE 10th and ISC 12th 2020. Students will be awarded an average of the best three percentage marks obtained in the subjects for which the ICSE 10th and ISC 12th exams 2020 have been successfully conducted.

Mpower launches mental health curriculum-‘Minds Matter’

With schools closed from mid-March and lockdown imposed children across the country are feeling stressed. It becomes imperative now more than ever to address children mental well-being at an early age.

MP Board declares Class 10th Results 2020

The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has finally declared the Class 10 result 2020. Students who have been eagerly waiting for their MP Board 10th result 2020 can finally check the same now. Students will be required to visit the official website – mpresults.nic.in. Students must enter their roll number and application number to check their results.

The MPBSE 10th result 2020 has been announced for over 11 lakh students. The MP Board Class 10 result 2020 has been declared on the basis of the ‘five rule’ formula applied by MPBSE.

As per the official statement, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, subjects for which MP Board Class 10 exams (theory/practical) could not be conducted will simply be marked as passed in the MP Class 10 result 2020 marksheets.

Abhinav Sharma of Bhind along with Pawan Bhargav and Lakshadweep Guna have topped the MP Board Class 10 results 2020. Girls have outperformed boys in MPBSE 10th Result 2020 with a pass percentage of 65.87% while the passing percentage of boys stood at 60.09%. The overall passing percentage in MP Board 10th result 2020 is 62.84%.

Students will be required to collect the original marksheets issued as and when issued by MPBSE from their respective schools.

RILDSU inks MoU with Manipal University

To provide employment to students in the state, Rajasthan ILD Skills University has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Manipal University. The MoU has been done to work in petrochemical and chemical sectors.

During the signing, Rajasthan ILD Skills University VC Dr Lalit K Panwar and Professor Dr. Gopalakrishna Prabhu K, President, Manipal University Jaipur, were present. Both universities registrars were also present during the ceremony.

Rajasthan ILD Skills University VC Dr Lalit K Panwar said the university will provide training to students in the petrochemical sector. The sector has huge scope in the state. He also said the university will start a training centre in Barmer district for which they have got 30 acres of land.

Professor Dr. Gopalakrishna Prabhu K, President, Manipal University Jaipur said with the help of Rajasthan ILD Skills University, they will work to provide training and employment to students.

AICTE releases revised calendar for PGDM and PGCM

In the wake of Corona epidemic, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has released a revised Academic Calendar for technical and professional training institutes. According to revised academic calendar, the classes for PGDM and PGCM existing students in all affiliated higher education institutes and colleges will commence from 15th July 2020.

On the other hand, classes for newly admitted students will commence from 16th August 2020. The changes in the academic calendar for professional and technical institutes are being done in line with the current prevailing situation in the country due to COVID-19 pandemic.

As per the AICTE revised Academic Calendar, the new academic session for freshly admitted students will commence from 1st August 2020 and continue until 31st July 2021.

While the academic session and teaching process, including lateral entry to second-year courses for newly-admitted students will start from September 15.

On the other hand, students will be allowed to cancel the seats allotted to them on or before 5th August 2020 for PGDM and PDCM courses with full refund.

Himanshu Pandya appointed as vice-chancellor of Gujarat University

The Gujarat government has appointed Himanshu Pandya as the vice-chancellor of Gujarat University. Himanshu Pandya has been appointed for the post for the second term of three years.

Pandya had stepped down as vice-chancellor after his term ended on May 15. But Pandya was being considered for a second stint and the state government had in the meantime appointed Jagdish Bhavsar as the pro vice-chancellor after the appointment got delayed.

A search committee to look for a new vice-chancellor had been formed three months ago but the entire process was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown.

Pandya first became the vice-chancellor on May 16, 2017.

JEE Main, NEET and JEE Advanced exams postponed to September

Keeping with the demands of a majority of students in view of the rise in COVID cases in the country, Union Human Resource Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has announced the new exam dates of JEE Main, NEET and JEE Advanced. The exams which were scheduled in July and August have been postponed.

JEE Main will now be conducted between September 1 to 6 2020, JEE Advanced on September 27 and NEET on September 13 respectively.

The decision on JEE Main and NEET has been announced after the special committee consisting of National Testing Agency Director General and other officials submitted their report to MHRD regarding the reconsideration of the conduct of JEE Main exam.

Now that the exam is postponed, application correction the facility is to be reopened for NEET and JEE Main from July 4 to 15, 2020. Previously, the JEE Main exam was supposed to be conducted in April, while JEE Advanced and NEET 2020 were to be conducted in May.

NTA Director General, Vineet Joshi had also announced that all the precautionary measures shall be taken to protect the students from all kinds of risk factors pertaining to their health.

Students on the other hand were requesting the authorities through various social media platforms for the postponement of JEE Main and NEET 2020 on account of safety as well as the travel restrictions.

Odisha to start online classes from July 13

In the wake of Corona pandemic, Odisha government has decided to start online classes for college and universities from July 13. The Director of Higher Secondary Education has asked all the principals of the higher secondary schools to prepare the online content for students.

The Higher Secondary Education department has asked the schools to follow rules and advisories issued to fight against COVID19 and start the online classes.

The state government has further asked the undergraduate colleges to form WhatsApp and e-mail groups of students for the classes. Each group should not exceed more than 32 students.

The online classes will be conducted by the teachers for at least 2 to 3 hours a day for three days a week. The classes will be conducted with the help of Google Meet, Zoom, Skype, and other digital platforms.

Teachers will have to maintain an attendance register for students who will be attending the classes. Moreover, the classes will be conducted from the college premises.

Meanwhile, Odisha state board has cancelled the remaining papers for Class 12 that was scheduled to be conducted from March 23 to March 28, 2020.

Rajasthan: Babu Lal Meena appointed as commissioner of school education

In a major reshuffle, Babu Lal Meena, IAS officer Rajasthan 2006 batch, has been transferred as Commissioner, School Education, State Project Director, Samgra Shiksha Abhiyan (SMSA) & Additional Commissioner, Rajasthan Shiksha Parishad, Government of Rajasthan.

Pritam B. Yashwant has been sent to General Administration and Motor Garage and Civil Aviation Department. Panchayat Raj to Siddharth Mahajan, Disaster Assistance and Civil Protection Department, Veena Pradhan to Ayurveda and Indian System of Medicine.

The list is out on the recommendation of the Ashok Gehlot government, in which 103 IAS have been changed, in which collectors of many districts and heads of almost all major departments have been changed.
