Medical Students

Amid the Covid-19 crisis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has reviewed various measures to increase human resources for effective management of the current coronavirus crisis in the country. One of the possible steps discussed was to motivate students and pass-outs of medical and nursing courses to do the pandemic duty. The final details for the same will likely be announced.

“Decisions may include delaying NEET and incentivizing MBBS pass-outs studying for it to join the COVID-19 duty. The decisions may also include utilising services of final-year MBBS and nursing students,” a government source added.

Further, the medical personnel doing the Covid-19 duties may be given preference in the government recruitment and financial incentives as well.

The review meeting took place due to rising concerns of healthcare personnel feeling overwhelmed in some parts of the country due to shortage of staff, rising Covid-19 cases, and testing facilities also being under a strain.
