Karnataka universities urged to defer degree exams due to Covid-19

The Karnataka state government has requested the Vice Chancellors of universities in Karnataka to consider postponing the semester examinations of degree courses by a month, in view of the third Covid-19 wave.

In an official press statement, the Additional Chief Secretary of Department of Higher Education G Kumar Naik said that the Vice Chancellors of all universities have been requested to take a decision on deferring the examinations in view of the incomplete syllabus.He further informed that the portions remained incomplete as physical classes had to be suspended considering the third Covid-19 wave.

Naik said,”Some of the universities had already announced the schedule of semester examinations but the Commissioner of Department of Collegiate and Technical Education (DCTE) had written a letter asking to postpone the examinations by a month in order to enable students to better prepare.”
