Pokhriyal likely to announce changes in school curriculum

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal is expected to make important announcements about the curriculum change as he will interact with the presidents and secretaries of the CBSE Sahodaya schools at 2 pm. Over 1000 people who run CBSE schools are expected to participate in the programme.

Based on these announcements, CBSE will launch orientation programs across its 250 active Sahodaya school complexes across the country to raise awareness of NEP 2020, the council said. The changes are expected to be in line with the 2020 National Education Policy (NEP). Here is an overview of some of the major changes announced by the ministry this year.

With a major change, the ministry agreed to keep the board’s examinations low. “CBSE will introduce an improvement test starting in 2021 and will introduce English and Sanskrit in two stages starting in the 2021-2022 session.

In addition, learning outcomes up to secondary education have been reported and a draft learning outcomes for upper secondary education have been posted for suggestions. In addition, the creation of the National Mission for Basic Literacy and Numbering was approved in principle. A committee has been created to prepare a framework for FL&N, codify learning outcomes, etc. A related update is also expected.

“Changes to be incorporated into the curriculum and school processes from the 2021-2022 academic session will be discussed by the Honorable Shiksha mantri,” the CBSE said in an official statement. “Schools really need to redefine the teaching and learning process and change the educational structure so NEP 2020 can be properly implemented to monitor the transformation process,” he added.

MHA issues new guidelines for reopening of educational institutions

With the decline in COVID-19 cases in India and the first phase of vaccination, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) authorized all activity outside of safe zones in its February unblocking guidelines. The Home ministry has left it up to the states to issue SOPs (standard operating procedures) for educational institutions to admit more than 200 people in a closed space.

This has been the center’s booth since October 2020. The MHA has asked states to continue to implement containment measures and SOPs for various activities and to encourage appropriate behavior in COVID-19.

The new guidelines says “It emphasizes … that to fully overcome the pandemic, caution is required and the mandatory containment strategy must be strictly adhered to, which emphasizes vigilance, containment and strict compliance with the directives of the MHA and the Department of Health and Family Welfare ( MOHFW).”

Earlier, the MHA allowed a maximum of 50 percent of the room’s capacity with a 200-person ceiling inside for education, religious sports, and other gatherings. From now on, such meetings are permitted subject to the SOPs of the State and Union territory in question.

Most states have either reopened schools and colleges in their state or plan to gradually reopen beginning February 1. The College Grants Commission (UGC) released guidelines for the reopening of colleges and universities on November 5.

US Embassy, Delhi govt launch English teaching programme for teachers

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and US Embassy Secretary of State David H. Kennedy jointly launched a 10-week online English education program for 700 teachers at all women’s universities in the national capital.

During the event, Sisodia also invited the first lady of the United States, Jill Biden, to visit the Delhi state schools and interact with the students.

In addition to Kennedy, other senior embassy officials were also present to kick off the US Embassy Regional Office for English program.

“We train future teachers, they get a quality education beforehand so that they can work for the best of our children. English is a key language for developing global perspectives and it is important that our teachers and students are well equipped with it, ”said Sisodia.

Kennedy said that English is an important language for economic development and student mobility. “It’s great to see the Delhi government and the US Embassy actively working together on this,” he said.

Kennedy recognized the long association of the United States Embassy with the Delhi government and the Deputy CM’s efforts to ensure that Delhi teachers learn from the best.

The courses are designed to meet some of the goals set out in India’s New National Education Policy (NEP) and to help teachers teach English, the Delhi government said in a statement.

This new initiative will also include hands-on experience with new technologies in the classroom and will help teachers deal with some of the challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic they currently face, the statement read.

Kendriya Vidyalayas to conduct online exams for class 3 to 8 from Mar 1

Kendriya Vidyalayas will conduct final exams in online mode for class 3-8 students. Final exams for classes 3-8 will be held March 1-20, 2021 during the final phase, and test results are expected to be announced before March 31, 2021.

According to the official announcement published, the exam will take place both online and offline. The offline exams are only conducted for students who do not have access to the devices or are facing connectivity issues.

Final exams for students in Classes 3-5 are 40 points, while the question paper includes multiple-choice questions for 10 points, while 15 points are awarded for descriptive and oral questions. For students in grades 6-8, the tests are 80 points and the question paper has 25 points for multiple-choice questions, while 40 points are awarded for descriptive questions and 15 points for oral questions.

Oral tests are carried out individually for each subject and for each student before the start of the call. Exam times will be announced individually for students and are expected to end before February 27, 2021 or as determined by the respective Deputy Commissioner. According to the notification, the oral test component can replace the entire written test in case of connection problems. The internal assessment has a weighting of 20%, while the end-of-semester exams have a weighting of 80%.

The exam will also produce a minimum of four test sets for each class and class with two or three different time windows to solve limited equipment and connectivity issues. A disclaimer under the RTE law also continues for Classes 3-8. It should also be noted that parental consent is also required for offline testing and that the new academic session will begin on April 1, 2021.

Dr Prabhu Aggarwal appointed as VC of Bennett University

Renowned academician Prof (Dr) Prabhu Aggarwal has been recently appointed as Vice Chancellor of #BennettUniversity. Dr Aggarwal has extensive experience in establishing institutes in India and the United States.

Prof Bechan Lal appointed as new VC Cluster University Jammu

Eminent Academician Professor Bechan Lal has been appointed as Vice Chancellor of the Cluster University of Jammu for a term of three years.

The order in this regard was given by Lieutenant Governor (LG) J&K Manoj Sinha, who is also the Chancellor of the university.

“In the exercise of my powers under section 12 of Srinagar University and the Jammu Cluster Act 2016, 1 Manoj Sinha, Chancellor of Jammu Cluster University, appoints Professor Bechan Lal as Vice Chancellor of Cluster University of Jammu, “the Order reads.

According to the appointment, the mandate of the new Cluster University CV is three years from the date of taking office.

IIM-Bangalore launches healthcare incubation programme

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore has submitted applications for startups or start-ups that “have the potential to improve access and accessibility to healthcare in India.” The application process has started and will end on February 15th.

The startups will be shortlisted based on the feasibility of the idea and the proposed solution to the problem to be solved. The program aims to support healthcare innovators and entrepreneurs on their way from lab to market, according to the IIM-B. The program is offered by NSRCEL – the start-up center at IIM Bangalore.

Early-stage projects are selected for a three-month pre-incubation period of the program, where they are led by mentors through needs assessment, one-on-one interactions, and workshops. Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to network with more than 800 NSRCEL companies and connect with partner networks: Bangalore BioInnovation Center, IIITB Innovation Center SocialAlpha, HCG Academics and others, IIM-B reported.

After pre-incubation, companies will have the option of contacting NSRCEL for a 12-month incubation program. Participants in the NSRCEL health program will continue to receive support through webinars, master classes, guest lectures and workshops after the program ends, IIM said in an official statement.

PM Modi interacts with Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar winners

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised children’s contribution to raising awareness of handwashing during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that if they were part of it, a program would be successful.

When interacting with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar winners via video conference, Prime Minister Modi congratulated the winners, saying that they should never stop working and be humble all the time. He also asked them to work for the country and urged them to think about what they could do as the nation approaches its 75th anniversary.

The prime minister also asked them to read biographies and said they would continue to inspire them. Speaking to a boy who made farm equipment, Modi said that modern agriculture is the necessity of the land.

Children have also played an important role in raising awareness of sanitation through the Swachh Bharat program, he said. The Government of India has awarded the Bal Shakti Puraskar under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to children of outstanding ability and outstanding achievement in innovation, sports, arts and culture, social service, educational field and courage.

For PMRBP-2021, Bal Shakti Puraskar selected a total of 32 applicants from across the country in different categories.

100 students to watch Republic Day Parade from PM’s Box

Almost 100 deserving students from schools and universities will have the opportunity to attend the Republic Day parade in the Prime Minister’s box on January 26, 2021. After the parade, students can also meet Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal.

Deserving students from across the country will have the opportunity to watch the 2021 Republic Day parade from the Prime Minister’s Lodge, according to a tweet from the Ministry of Education. The tweet adds that students will also have the opportunity to meet Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhriyal.

According to ministry officials, 100 students were shortlisted for the Republic Day parade, of which 50 are schools and the other 50 are higher education institutions. A total of 105 toppers from CBSE and universities across the country had the opportunity to watch the 71st Republic Day parade from the Prime Minister’s Box last year.

The 2021 Republic Day parade will miss the gravity-defying motorcycle stunts. It is a major draw for the Crown during the Republic Day celebrations on Rajpath. The number of spectators participating in the Republic Day parade has also dropped to 25,000. This year’s parade will also miss the parade of bravery award winners and children who received bravery awards due to the COVID-19 pandemic and posted guidelines, including social distancing.

This year’s Republic Day parade will also not feature a main guest, and the number of participants in the Republic Day cultural programs has been reduced from 600 to just 401 this year to avoid overcrowding and because the rules of social distancing are respected in the pandemic.
