Foreign Universities contact Indian students via SMS

Now Indian students are receiving SMS service from foreign universities for on-the-spot registration. The use of IT tools has made easier for counsellors and representatives of foreign universities to contact Indian students.

University representatives are sending messages to students, while mobile-operators are negotiating data space with counsellors. International Placewell Consultants, send out text messages, which conveys details of on-the-spot registration, scholarships offered and even information on work permits. Some of the universities IPC represents include University of Sheffield, University of Leeds and the University of Canterbury. Reliance Communications (R-Com) is planning to launch an application on R World by means of which a student can shoot questions, which will be answered by experts. The company is planning to start live-voice chat.
