The Karnataka government has opened applications for the Arivu Education Loan Scheme, an interest-free financial assistance programme aimed at supporting students from the Christian community pursuing higher education. The initiative is implemented through the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation (KMDC) to improve access to professional education for minority students.
Under the scheme, eligible students can avail education loans for professional courses such as MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, BE, BTech, BArch, MBA, MCA and LLB programmes. The loans are designed to reduce the financial burden on families and encourage students to continue higher education without interruption.
Applicants must be permanent residents of Karnataka, belong to a notified minority community, and secure admission through recognised entrance examinations such as CET or NEET under government quota seats. Family income eligibility criteria and other supporting documents are also required during the application process.

The Arivu scheme offers concessional financing with minimal service charges and a repayment period that begins after course completion, enabling students to focus on academics before starting repayment obligations. Applications can be submitted through the official KMDC portal.
The initiative reflects Karnataka’s broader efforts to strengthen educational inclusion and expand opportunities for students from minority communities. By improving access to higher education, the state aims to enhance employability and support socio-economic development among underrepresented groups.
