AzimPremji Foundation to set up a University for teachers

Azim Premji Foundation announced to set up a university, dedicated for techer training, aimed at creating a pool of education professionals including teacher educators and education managers.


The country has 13 lakh schools and 55 lakh teachers, the university will address capacity building of teachers bringing a systemic change in education delivery in India. The finer details of the project are still being worked out.
Azim Premji Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of IT major Wipro, has been working with the education department in the state assisting the government in facilitating computer literacy among school children, now working towards setting up  a university to train teachers and others involved in education.
