Madhya Pradesh closes all schools for Class 1-8 till April 15

The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to close all schools for students in grades 1-8 before April 15th. The government took the move amid a massive spike in COVID-19 cases across the state. However, classes 9-12 will reopen as of April 1, 2021. They must also submit the parental consent form to attend classes offline. Earlier this month, the state announced the closure of all educational institutions through March 31, 2021 due to the increase in COVID-19 cases.

On Tuesday, March 30, the secretary of the school education department, Sanjay Goel, issued this order to all collectors in the district. It was distributed to schools in Madhya Pradesh. The school education department decided after a review meeting on Tuesday. The number of corona positive cases is increasing statewide. As a result, the school education department decided to extend school closings.

The department had asked schools to follow COVID-19 guidelines, including maintaining social distancing, proper disinfection, and wearing masks.

Elementary school can begin on June 23, 2021. Until then, classes will be held online. Recently, the Madhya Pradesh Department of Secondary Education revised the dates for grades 10 and 12 due to COVID-19. The 10th grade board exams will now take place from April 30 to May 19, while the 12th grade board exams will take place from May 1 to 21.
